Thursday, 7 July 2011, 2pm - Level 4, Hall 401

The Middle East and North Africa Region is one of the driest regions on earth.  Water scarcity is predominantly noticeable in this region due to its lack of natural water resources; in particular, freshwater supply.  According to the Global Water Intelligence report on the Water Market Middle East 2010, the average water footprint- ie direct and indirect water consumption per head is 11.6% higher than the global average and MENA countries also have some of the highest population growth rates in the world.  This coupled with water scarcity in the region calls for a need to ensure water sustainability in the region.  The countries in the MENA region look to engage multi-prong approaches to ensure water sustainability in the region. Developing new water resources, desalination, water reuse are part of the various programs in the water management strategies in place. Thus, “Sustainable Water Services in the MENA region” will be the main theme for the 2011 MENA Business Forum during the Singapore International Water Week.

The MENA Business Forum is a platform where government and industry leaders share with the international participants the various upcoming water and wastewater projects and business opportunities in the MENA region.  It also provides excellent opportunities for the local companies to network with the government officials from Middle East & North Africa. Distinguished speakers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, the Sultanate of Oman, and the United Arab Emirates will provide a comprehensive overview of the business opportunities in the water and wastewater industry.

Join us in the Middle East and North Africa Business Forum to hear top government officials and water business leaders share with us their vision on ensuring water sustainability through their various sustainable water management policies and strategies.  Also discover how these strategies translate into business opportunities in the water and wastewater industry for the region.
