NEDO pilot plants technical tour |
|
NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), Japan, is the largest public management organization in Japan promoting research and development as well as deployment of industrial, energy and environmental technologies. In November 2010, a Letter of Intent was signed between PUB CE Mr Khoo Teng Chye and NEDO President Mr Takefumi Fukumizu for NEDO to conduct two pilot trials of Japanese technologies in PUB's WRP installations. The technical tour will start with a short presentation by NEDO Executive Director Dr Sadao Wasaka, who will give an overview on the PUB-NEDO collaboration. The tour itself will cover both pilot plants. The Nitto Denko pilot study is on the reclamation of water from the challenging industrial wastewater stream at Jurong WRP. By employing Kuraray's novel PVA-gel bead biocarriers, as well as latest developments in low fouling RO membrane spacers, the pilot study further seeks to reduce footprint and energy consumption. The Hitachi Plant Technologies pilot study is on the removal of fluoride from wafer fabrication industrial wastewater. By an innovative internal recycling process, the footprint, waste sludge and energy consumption are significantly reduced."
