Water security has risen to the top of the policy agenda across the world as major cities have faced the spectre of taps running dry. It is now widely recognised that these crises are as much the result of weak governance and policy gaps as they are a reflection of physical shortages. Singapore’s experience over the last 50 years shows how resource constraints can be overcome through intelligent, far-sighted policy and planning. Despite these achievements, challenges remain for Singapore, in particular in improving water use efficiency at the household and business level. International comparative research and knowledge sharing across cities can generate new ideas on how to inspire and incentivise customers to use water more efficiently.
3.45pm: Tea Break
