C&S Brand Australian Filter Coal
JAMES CUMMING & SONS
Product description
C & S Brand Australian Filter Coal is an industrial Filter Coal with, consisting of hard, durable cubic sub angular particles, free of clay, shale and impurities, manufactured to leading industry practices & lower uniformity coefficients as required by our customers.
Manufactured in our plant with consistent particle sizing, it is clean with minimal fines, resulting in lower scraping losses during filter installation and significant cost savings.
Our anthracite-type filter media ensures long-term performance, outperforming softer or chemically unstable alternatives. Upgrading from a mono-media sand filter to dual-media filter with Australian filter coal achieves a 50-100% increase in water filtration efficiency and a significant reduction in backwash rates.

Australian Filter Coal or Anthracite
At James Cumming & Sons, we’ve identified an Australian bituminous coal that generally outperforms imported anthracite coal, meeting or even exceeding the AWWA B100 standard.
The two key factors for filtering suitability are coal hardness and acid solubility. Our extensively tested Australian Filter Coal, with a proven track record in thousands of treatment plants, is a superior choice for potable, wastewater or pretreatment desalination. Anthracite coal is not essential for durability and filtration performance
