Chestnut Avenue Waterworks

The Chestnut Avenue Waterworks is the largest waterworks and the first membrane water treatment plant in Singapore. The Waterworks comprises two separate but interconnected treatment plants, each with a nominal capacity of 273 Ml/d (60 Mgd).  The first treatment plant is a conventional water treatment plant, and the second treatment plant is an immersed ultra-filtration membrane plant commissioned in 1975 and 2003 respectively. Second treatment plant was subsequently upgraded with Ozone and Bacteriological Activated Carbon (BAC) Filter Beds to reduce disinfectant by-product (DBP) formation, and to remove taste and odour causing compounds.
