Yong Kwet Yew

Er Professor Yong Kwet Yew is Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and formerly Senior Vice President (Campus Infrastructure) at the National University of Singapore where he oversaw the university largest capital expansion including the $1 billion sustainable development of University Town and implemented a carbon neutral campus 2030 roadmap.

Prof Yong’s research and professional work are a microcosm of the infrastructure development in Singapore and the region. In the past 42 years, he has been involved in over 100 major coastal reclamation, underground and infrastructure projects, published more than 200 papers and delivered over 30 keynote/guest lectures at international conferences. He served on several key national and professional committees including the Development Project Advisory Panel, Ministry of Finance. He was a member of the Expert Panel on Enhancing Flood Protection in Singapore, MEWR in 2011/12 and was recently appointed Chairman, PUB Coastal Protection Expert Panel.
