Direct potable reuse (DPR), the process of treating wastewater to drinking water standards and introducing it directly into the potable water system, is emerging as a viable and increasingly accepted solution for building climate-resilient water systems. This panel will shed light on how DPR is moving from concept to implementation across different regulatory and operational contexts. Speakers will share experiences ranging from Asia’s first operational DPR facility serving communities in Parañaque City, to the development of new statewide regulations in California that enable treated municipal wastewater to enter drinking water systems while maintaining strict public health protections.
