Alice Dinsdale-Young

Senior Advisor – Thames Estuary 2100
Environment Agency, England (UK)

Alice is a Senior Advisor delivering the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan for the Environment Agency. She works with the team to set up the next phase of delivery, known as Thames Estuary Phase 2. This programme will become a multi-million-pound infrastructure initiative, maintaining the tidal flood defence system while upgrading up to 107 km of defences across Essex, Kent, and East London by 2040.

She also focuses on continuous improvement to governance for the Thames Estuary 2100 Plan and leads on international engagement, particularly with New York and Singapore, which face similar challenges in delivering resilience to coastal and tidal change.

Alice has a bachelor’s degree in Geophysical Sciences from the University of East Anglia.

She joined the Environment Agency in 2010, where she completed a Foundation degree in River and Coastal Engineering from the University of the West of England alongside working across a wide range of internal teams. She has remained with the Environment Agency ever since, focusing on flood risk in the South-East of England and taking on a variety of roles.
Alice is a keen sportsperson, competing in swimming, ultimate frisbee, and running, and enjoys reading fiction.
