Deputy Director, FCERM Strategic Overview

Ben is the Deputy Director for the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) Strategic Overview department at the Environment Agency. His current responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing development and delivery of the national FCERM Strategy for England
  • Providing strategic leadership for the Environment Agency’s statutory FCERM strategic overview role
  • Managing the Environment Agency’s FCERM resilience policy interface with UK government
  • Driving forward the Environment Agency’s strategic agenda for coastal, rural, lowland and property level flood resilience, surface water management and spatial planning, in collaboration with national partners.
Ben joined the Agency in 2021. He has a varied background including as a senior civil servant in the UK Government and as a local government official. Ben also spent his early career working internationally in roles across Europe and South Asia.
